Visiting Clarksdale On A Carriage
Here is Number 16 from my series “The Authentic”, featuring emblematic towns and cities from around the world and their iconic modes of transport. It is coming from Clarksdale, Mississippi, in the United States of America.
We visited Clarksdale (Mississippi) in January 2015, on our way down from Memphis to New Orleans. Kevin was very much looking forward to visit it, as Clarksdale has been historically significant in the history of the blues.An important landmark is “The Crossroads” monument, where legend says that blues guitarist Robert Johnson sold his soul to the devil. On my painting I added there one of these Mississippi Blues trail signs, featuring the devil.
And Robert Johnson is playing guitar, sitting in that beautiful white carriage which I saw in Clarksdale. The carriage has also a music related signification, but I don’t remember which, and I could not find any info about it on the net. If somebody comes across that post and knows something about it, I would be thankful for telling me!

Follows the “Madness” version of this painting. I have done some computer manipulation with an artist professional software, adding some digital effects. I do like the result, it gives the image some “vintage”, very decorative feel.
